The figures are aligned with the Medium-Term Program (MTP), which envisions tourism revenues of $70 billion in 2027, $73.5 billion in 2028, and $78.5 billion in 2029.

Current Results and Revised Targets

Last year Turkey posted a record result, earning $65.2 billion in tourism revenues. However, the initial 2026 target of $68 billion was revised downward to $65 billion due to the ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, as well as in the Middle East.

Positions in Global Rankings

According to World Tourism Organization data on global tourism revenues, Turkey is expected to rise from seventh place (the forecast for the current year) to sixth in 2027. If the $70 billion target is met next year, projections suggest fifth place by 2028. Since 2017, the country has climbed in the revenue ranking from 15th to seventh place, and in total tourist arrivals from eighth to fourth. Fourth place in arrivals is expected to be maintained in 2027–2029.
