UAE aid agency to allocate $3 million for housing for returnees to Afghanistan

The UAE aid agency has signed a $3 million agreement with UNHCR to build climate-resilient homes for 2,950 Afghan returnees in Kabul, Herat and Kunduz. The agreement was announced at the Aidex 2026 conference in Geneva, where the agency also held meetings with the ICRC, WHO and UN bodies.

UNHCR: More than 250,000 people forcibly displaced in Yemen since August

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) reported that between 1 August and 17 October 2026, more than 250,000 people in Yemen were forced to leave their homes due to an escalation of fighting. The crisis centre is Taiz, which accounts for 76% of displacements. The agency notes a shortage of shelter and serious underfunding of the humanitarian response.
