A 5,300-year-old urinary stone indicating a chronic infection found in Stavropol Krai
Scientists have discovered a 5,300-year-old urinary stone in the remains of an Early Bronze Age man in Stavropol Krai. Chemical analysis showed that the formation arose against the background of a chronic bacterial infection rather than dietary problems. The find, preserved thanks to rare conditions, makes it possible to reconstruct the hard life of a steppe herder who suffered from pain and survived several fractures.
