Germany Plans to Ban Social Media for Children Under 13
The German government has approved the key provisions of a reform on child protection online: a ban on social media for children under 13 (except verified platforms), age-based restrictions for teenagers aged 13–18, an age-verification app in 2027, and an AI educational program for primary school students. The final laws have not yet been passed, and the timing of the measures' entry into force is unknown.
