London court allows Mozambique to pursue claim against widow of Lebanese businessman over 'tuna bonds'
The Court of Appeal in London dismissed the appeal of Clara Martinez Thedy de Safa, widow of Lebanese magnate Iskandar Safa, and confirmed that Mozambique's claim for compensation over a $2 billion corruption scandal may proceed against her personally. Under Lebanese law, an heir automatically assumes the assets and debts of the deceased. The final amount of liability has not yet been determined.
