German startup Orbital Matter prints a rigid beam in the vacuum of space for the first time
The Replicator 2 satellite of Orbital Matter printed a half-meter rigid beam made of UV-curable resin in open space. This is the first such experiment on a free-flying spacecraft: previously, 3D printing in microgravity was limited to the sealed volume of the ISS. The next demonstration is planned for 2028.
