Germany narrows its search for a nuclear waste repository site to 5% of its territory
After almost ten years of searching, the federal company BGE announced that 5% of Germany's area, in 11 of the 16 federal states, remains as potential sites for the final disposal of radioactive waste. The goal is to identify a site by 2050; Finland remains the only country to have built such a repository.
