Uzbekistan summoned the Iranian ambassador over publications describing Samarkand as part of Persian heritage
On October 23, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan summoned Iranian ambassador Muhammad Ali Iskandari and handed him a note of protest. The reason was publications by Iranian embassies in Armenia, Zimbabwe and Bulgaria on the social network X presenting the architecture of Samarkand as Persian or Iranian-Islamic heritage following the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Tashkent demanded the removal of the posts and that a recurrence be prevented.
