New species of light-avoiding blind cave slugs discovered in China
Specialists from Yuxi Vocational and Technical College of Agriculture and Nanchang University found a new species of subterranean mollusc, Erhaia dijiang, in caves in Yunnan province, named after a faceless deity from Chinese mythology. It is the highest-altitude find for the family Erhaiidae — at an altitude of 2,062 metres.
