Chinese scientists encoded a Hemingway story in E. coli DNA and read it back after 100 generations of bacteria
Researchers developed the DNA-SaM encoding system, which allows digital files to be written into DNA with error correction. Hemingway's story, 3288 bytes in size, was split into 41 DNA fragments, inserted into E. coli plasmids, and successfully read at the hundredth generation of bacteria. The results were published in Nature Communications.
