Excavations near Baghdad reveal traces of a city from the era of Hammurabi
Iraqi authorities announced discoveries at the Tell Muhammad hill near Baghdad: fortress walls and gates, traces of food production and metalworking, and burial practices. The finds from the era of Hammurabi were obtained during a project with the University of Catania since 2022; the artifacts will be transferred to the Iraq Museum, and an archaeological park will be created on site.
