Economist names four everyday habits that lower electricity bills
Pyotr Shcherbachenko, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, listed ways to reduce electricity costs without buying expensive equipment: replacing bulbs with LED ones, unplugging unused appliances, washing at 30 degrees, and regularly descaling the kettle. By his calculations, one LED bulb saves about 40 rubles a month, while a 1–2 mm layer of limescale increases electricity consumption by 10–15%.
