Economist Otabek Bakirov and tax consultant Murod Mukhammadjonov told Kun.uz that the proposal for mandatory digital labeling of vegetable oil is not backed by calculations, and the existing labeling system is still experiencing glitches.
Otabek YusupovThe Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has released for public discussion a draft government resolution on color-coded labeling of soft drinks depending on sugar content. From January 1, 2027, packaging is expected to carry mandatory warning labels — from yellow to red — occupying at least 15% of the front side, as well as a QR code with data on composition and calorie content.
Aziz KarimovUzbekistan's Tax Committee has put up for public discussion a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on digital labeling of vegetable oil. If the document is adopted, mandatory labeling may come into force on July 1, 2027. It will cover oils under HS codes 1507–1515 — from soybean and olive to cottonseed and rapeseed. The discussion will last until October 24.
