Construction of two large nuclear power plant units in Jizzakh may begin in 2027

According to Rosatom, cited by the Dunyo news agency and Kun.uz, two large power units with VVER-1000 reactors will be located next to the small modular reactors under construction at the Jizzakh nuclear power plant. Work at the site is underway: the first concrete foundation slab for the small units was poured in May 2026, and more than a thousand people are working at the construction site.
