Russia breaks 57-year record for Pacific herring catch
Over the first ten months of 2026, more than 612 thousand tons of Pacific herring were caught in the Far East, the Fish Union reported citing data from the CSMS of Russia's Federal Agency for Fishery. The previous annual record of 1969 — 606 thousand tons — had stood for 57 years. By the end of the year, the industry expects to set a new historic maximum.
