The key facts

  • Mercedes-AMG GT 53 — two electric motors, 544 hp; GT 55 — 816 hp; GT 63 — 1169 hp
  • The GT 63 accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.5 s and to 200 km/h in 6.8 s
  • The active spoiler changes position from 150 km/h; controllable louvers are in the front bumper

Debut of the Mercedes-AMG GT electric crossover

Mercedes-AMG has presented the new electric GT crossover. The front end is adorned with a decorative panel featuring vertical metal strips, reminiscent of the traditional AMG grille with illumination. The headlights received three-pointed star-shaped daytime running lights, while the rear features six round light elements combined with a horizontal LED strip. Among the model's distinctive features are frameless side windows, widened wheel arches and flush door handles.

Dimensions and aerodynamics

The new model's length is 5080 to 5084 mm, width — 2001 mm, height — 1653 or 1656 mm, and wheelbase — 3040 mm. Particular attention has been paid to aerodynamics: the GT 55 and GT 63 versions feature an active spoiler on the roof, which begins to change its position upon reaching 150 km/h and, depending on speed and driving conditions, can reduce aerodynamic drag or increase downforce. In addition, controllable vertical louvers are installed in the front bumper: in normal mode they are closed, and when necessary they open for additional cooling.

Powertrains and performance

The base GT 53 version is equipped with two synchronous electric motors — one on each axle, with a combined output of 544 hp. The more powerful GT 55 and GT 63 received three electric motors with magnets oriented along the axis: two on the rear axle and one on the front. The GT 55 develops 816 hp, while the maximum output of the flagship GT 63 reaches 1169 hp. The most powerful crossover accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, and to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
