EU discusses new levy on companies with turnover from €750 million for the 2028–2034 budget
European Council President António Costa proposed extending the new EU budget revenue source (CORE) only to companies with annual turnover above €750 million — instead of the €100 million originally proposed by the European Commission. The compromise is aimed at softening objections from Germany and other countries concerned about business competitiveness. No decision has been made yet.
