At the auction on November 4, the certificate for registering a small car in Singapore reached an all-time high — 139,001 Singapore dollars (about $109 thousand), not including the cost of the car itself. Due to a skew in demand, the permit for a compact car has become more expensive than for a more powerful one. The authorities are discussing a reform of the COE system.
