UN: developing countries need $305 billion a year for climate adaptation — ten times more than current aid
The new UNEP report “Adaptation Gap Report 2026” shows that developing countries will need roughly $305 billion annually by 2035 for climate change adaptation, whereas in 2024 they received only $28.2–31.7 billion. Even fulfilling the COP30 decision to triple funding would cover only 20–29% of the need. The issue will be central at COP31 in Antalya on November 9–20.
