Oil spill off the UAE coast: closed beaches and ongoing cleanup
After an oil spill from a tanker off the coast of Umm Al Quwain, the authorities of several emirates closed their beaches. The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed the incident, while experts warn that the semi-enclosed geography of the Persian Gulf could trap the pollution for a long time.
