Elections in question
Berta Lopez Domenech, an analyst at the European Policy Centre, said that in the upcoming early elections in Serbia on Sunday, for the first time the alternative to the incumbent leader Aleksandar Vucic has 'real chances' of success.
Protests and forecasts
According to her, over the past two years Serbia has experienced 'the largest protests of this century.' Whether the 'Student List' can unseat Vucic will become clear next week, but current polls point to a 'very close result' and 'very high turnout.'
European course
Serbia, being a candidate for EU membership, has shown no progress on the path to membership since 2021. Lopez Domenech noted that since then there has been 'no progress,' and on fundamental issues there has even been a 'rollback.'
