The vote in the General Assembly is expected on November 10

The UN General Assembly will consider a draft resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism on November 10. Grigory Lukyantsev, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Multilateral Human Rights Cooperation, expressed confidence that the document will receive the support of the organization's member states, reports Gazeta.Ru citing his statement on his Telegram channel.

Who are the co-authors of the document

Besides Russia, 36 states have become co-authors of the resolution. Lukyantsev suggested that this list will be expanded by the time of the vote. The full list of countries is not given in the publication.

How the vote went last year

For comparison: in 2025, the Third Committee of the General Assembly approved the resolution proposed by Russia, 'Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.' At that time, the document was supported by 114 countries, with 52 voting against. It was also noted that the United States voted against the anti-Russian amendment to the resolution for the first time since 2022.

Context of other Foreign Ministry statements

Earlier, on November 4, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled the proposal to move the UN headquarters to Sochi. This is a separate statement, not connected with the vote on the resolution.
