Heavy rains and a sharp change in weather in mid-November
Evgeny Tishkovets, lead specialist at the Phobos weather center, warned that powerful downpours are heading toward Moscow, capable of bringing about half of the monthly precipitation norm in just one day, reports Life.ru. The most intense period is forecast from 09:00 on Friday, November 13, to 09:00 on Saturday, November 14: during this time, about 28 millimeters of precipitation may fall in the capital — according to the forecaster, '28 liters of heavenly water' per square meter, which corresponds to roughly 50% of the monthly norm.
The warm phase will give way to a cold front
Despite the abundant precipitation, temperatures will remain above freezing — between +1 and +4 degrees throughout the day. Tishkovets called November 14 the turning point, as it is considered the climatological start of winter: on that day, a cold atmospheric front will break into the capital region from the northwest. It will bring a new wave of heavy rains that will gradually turn into wet snow — up to 16 more millimeters of precipitation may fall during this period.
The snow will be short-lived
Against the backdrop of the cooling, a temporary snow cover will form again in Moscow, but its depth, according to the forecast, will not exceed one centimeter. Due to above-freezing temperatures, the snow will melt quickly, so one should not count on a full onset of winter just yet.

Earlier, Life.ru reported the introduction of a yellow level of weather danger in Moscow and the Moscow region: the warning was in effect on the night of November 8 due to the risk of black ice on the roads. In the forecast for November 2026 published by the outlet, it was noted that the first half of the month in the capital may turn out to be relatively warm, with a more sustained cooling expected closer to its end — the upcoming cooling on November 14 fits into this overall picture.
