The key facts
- A section of the R-280 'Novorossiya' highway is closed due to damage to the bridge over the Mius after a UAV attack
- The 58-km detour passes through six settlements and rejoins the highway at the 107th kilometer
- The timeline for restoring traffic on the main route has not been specified
Closed section and new route
In Rostov Region, after a drone attack damaged the bridge over the Mius River, a section of the federal R-280 'Novorossiya' highway has been closed. The regional State Traffic Inspectorate announced the organization of an alternative route toward Mariupol for motorists traveling from Rostov-on-Don.
How to take the detour
The backup route is 58 kilometers long. Drivers need to turn off the 'Novorossiya' highway at the 66th kilometer via a roundabout, pass through the villages of Nikolaevka, Alexandrova, Melentyevo, Yefremovka, Fyodorovka and Verkhnyaya Khanzhenkovka, and then return to the main highway at the 107th kilometer. This way the detour bypasses the closed section.
What is known about the damage
Earlier, the damage to the bridge after the drone attack was reported by Life.ru, citing Governor Yuri Slyusar: according to him, the road surface and two construction cranes were damaged. Emergency services arrived at the scene; traffic was initially organized in a reversible pattern, but then the section was closed and a detour was introduced. The timeline for restoring traffic on the main route has not yet been specified; the State Traffic Inspectorate urges drivers to plan trips in advance, take temporary signs into account, and follow police instructions.
