Bridge damage and its consequences
On the morning of November 8, in the Neklinovsky district of Rostov Region, the road surface of the bridge over the Mius River at the 97th kilometer of the federal R-280 'Novorossiya' highway was damaged as a result of an air attack and falling drone debris. This was reported by the region's governor Yuri Slyusar on his channel in the Max messenger (the message is quoted by Life.ru and Gazeta.Ru). In addition to the road surface, two crawler cranes involved in construction work were damaged. 'There are no casualties,' the governor wrote. Emergency services are working at the scene; information about the consequences is being clarified.
Traffic restrictions: from a reversible scheme to closing the access road
Initially, traffic across the bridge was organized in a reversible mode — vehicles were let through alternately in both directions. Later, according to updated information from the head of the region, access to the bridge was closed: motorists are asked to choose alternative routes in advance. Thus, during the morning of November 8, restrictions on the section intensified — from alternating passage of vehicles to a complete closure of the access road to the structure.
Context: attacks on the highway and the overnight raid
The drone threat in Rostov Region persists: residents are asked not to stay in open street areas, to take shelter indoors and stay away from windows. The R-280 highway had been attacked before: Life.ru previously reported the death of a minibus driver on August 19 in the Mangush district of the DPR — according to the head of the republic Denis Pushilin, a man born in 1999 was killed; in July, a drone attacked the car of the Zaporizhzhia Region minister of youth policy Yegor Logunov, who suffered a leg injury. Meanwhile, on October 20 the same outlet wrote about a decrease in the number of attacks: according to military correspondents, over two days only one vehicle was hit, and they linked the lull to disruptions in Starlink satellite communications. The day before, on the night of November 7, Slyusar reported the destruction of more than 50 drones over the region — in the Kasharsky, Chertkovsky, Millerovsky, Tarasovsky, Sholokhovsky and Verkhnedonsky districts; the Russian Defense Ministry, according to Gazeta.Ru, announced the interception of 411 Ukrainian UAVs over Russia during the same night.
