Massive road accident in Kent
On the evening of November 7, a major collision involving more than 30 vehicles occurred on the M20 motorway in the English county of Kent. The incident took place at around 18:41 local time on the section between junctions 8 and 9 in the direction of London, near Hollingbourne. According to Life.ru, the cause of the difficult situation was thick fog, which significantly reduced visibility on the road.
Casualties and emergency response
As a result of the accident, two people sustained serious injuries: one was taken to a local hospital, the other to a medical facility in the capital. Another 11 people involved in the incident needed paramedic assistance, while doctors found no serious injuries among the remaining casualties. Three fire engines, an ambulance crew with air transport, and a special emergency response unit arrived at the scene. This was reported by the county police.
Traffic restrictions and investigation
The authorities closed the M20 motorway in both directions between the junctions near Hollingbourne and Ashford. The restrictions were expected to remain in place for the entire night to carry out work on clearing the aftermath of the accident and restoring the road surface. Kent Police began establishing the circumstances of the incident and asked drivers to provide dashcam footage, citing reference number 07-1245.
