Context
According to the agency, Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out raids in the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Deraa: setting up checkpoints, searching homes, detaining civilians and leveling farmland with bulldozers. After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel expanded its military presence in the buffer zone between Syria and the occupied Golan Heights and advanced into southern Syria in violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement. Damascus has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces, calling such actions a violation of sovereignty and of the disengagement agreement. The report is based on a single account from Syrian state media; the details of the raid have not been independently confirmed.
