Damage to homes and the authorities' response

On the night of November 7, several residential buildings in Saratov were damaged as a result of a drone attack. This was reported by the governor of Saratov Region, Roman Busargin, who promised owners of damaged property the necessary assistance: according to him, the mechanism has already been worked out, and the mayor of Saratov, Igor Molchanov, has been instructed to take the situation under his personal control (Life.ru). Gazeta.Ru additionally reports that specialists from the city administration have been sent to the site of the drone crashes to assess the damage, an operational headquarters has been opened for residents at the administration of the Zavodskoy District, and a hotline will be set up.

Conflicting information about casualties

Information about those injured remains not entirely clear. Life.ru notes that it «still needs to be clarified»: earlier the governor reported damage to civilian infrastructure and preliminary data on casualties, while in his new statement he confirmed there were no fatalities but did not give the number of possible injuries. Gazeta.Ru, meanwhile, quotes Busargin as saying there were no casualties. Thus, at the time of publication only the absence of fatalities had been confirmed; the question of the wounded is covered differently across sources.

Context: the scale of the night and previous attacks

According to data from the Russian Defense Ministry cited by Gazeta.Ru, air defense systems on the night of November 7 intercepted and destroyed 411 Ukrainian drones over Russia, including over Saratov Region. Separately, the outlet reports two people injured in attacks on Belgorod Region that same night: in Belgorod a drone hit an apartment building, causing fires on the balconies of several apartments, and another hit a commercial building in Novy Oskol; one of the wounded was hospitalized, the other was treated on the spot.
