New paid parking zones in two Dubai districts
Drivers in certain zones of the Jebel Ali industrial area and the Al Furjan neighbourhood now pay for parking: Parkin has introduced new tariffs there, as reported by The National. In Jebel Ali Industrial, zone 599T is in operation, with the corresponding signs installed. Parking is paid from 8:00 to 22:00 at a rate of Dh4.20 per hour; in addition to hourly payment, long-term subscriptions are available via the Parkin app — Dh315 for a month, Dh840 for three months, Dh1,680 for six months and Dh2,940 for a year.
Al Furjan: zone 591P and subscriptions only
Al Furjan has been designated parking zone 591P. For residents and visitors of the marked areas, subscriptions are available: Dh1,999 for a month, Dh3,999 for three months and Dh4,999 for a year. Hourly rates for this zone are not given in the report. Public parking in both districts can be paid via the Parkin app, SMS, WhatsApp, the RTA and DubaiNow apps, as well as through payment machines.
Network expansion and the DMCC agreement
The expansion of paid zones is part of Dubai's drive to combat illegal parking and manage parking space more efficiently. In October, Parkin extended its agreement with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre to manage paid parking in Jumeirah Lakes Towers for another 10 years: the company is responsible for daily operations and payment collection through digital and physical channels at approximately 2,800 paid spaces, including 250 specially designated motorcycle spaces.
