Results of gas station inspections over ten months

More than 10 million liters of Ai-92 gasoline that failed to meet quality requirements were found at filling stations based on inspection activities over ten months. These figures were announced on November 4 at a press conference at the Content Preparation Center by the leadership of Uzenergoinspektsiya, as reported by Gazeta. The publication's text states the reporting period as 'ten months of 2016' — given the publication date, this appears to be a typo, but the editorial team preserves the source's wording.

Scale and geography of violations

According to Dilshod Karimov, head of the inspectorate's oil and gas sector oversight department, about 3,000 filling stations were inspected across the republic from January to October. At 330 of them, the sale of petroleum products that failed to meet quality requirements was detected. '240 violations are related to motor gasoline,' he noted. The bulk of the substandard fuel was found in the Andijan and Fergana regions; similar cases were also recorded in the Navoi, Namangan, and Samarkand regions.

What happens to violators

Quality checks are carried out at the inspectorate's central and regional laboratories, with laboratories of accredited organizations brought in when necessary. Stations where substandard fuel is found temporarily suspend operations: sales can resume only after a repeat laboratory test of the fuel and receipt of a certificate of conformity. 'Our main goal is not the confiscation of petroleum products, but stopping their sale to consumers in substandard form,' Karimov said. According to him, this year the sale of 7,800 tons of substandard petroleum products has been prevented.
