The actress's death and messages from her family

On November 7, Honored Artist of Russia Maria Shukshina announced the death of her mother — People's Artist of the RSFSR Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina — and asked fans to pray for her. The actress had spent her final weeks in hospital due to serious heart problems, as reported Life.ru. That same day, the actress's granddaughter, the athlete Anna Shukshina, recorded a video address on her Telegram channel: «I had a good childhood with my grandmother. I have only the very best memories». She called her grandmother's life long and interesting, noting that far from everyone is given the chance to live such a full 88 years, and wished her peace.

Circumstances of the illness

Shortly before the death, Anna Shukshina had publicly spoken about her grandmother's grave condition: against the background of chronic heart failure, complications with the kidneys arose, and doctors placed her in a medically induced coma. The granddaughter herself admitted that she had been unable to visit the actress because of a long-standing conflict with her aunt Olga Shukshina, who had been caring for their mother. Olga Shukshina said that doctors fought for the patient's life until the very end , but her age and the exhaustion of her body limited the possibilities of treatment: doctors repeatedly explained to relatives that the elderly patient had practically no internal reserves left. The actress was in intensive care on artificial ventilation. According to SHOT, the cause of death was acute heart failure.
