The situation in Kyiv

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on his Telegram channel about an extremely difficult situation with the electricity supply of the Ukrainian capital, which, according to him, has also affected the operation of heating and water supply systems. This is reported by Gazeta.Ru. “An extremely difficult situation with the capital’s energy supply. Accordingly, also in the operation of the city’s heating and water supply systems,” the outlet quotes the mayor.

Infrastructure damage

Earlier, Klitschko reported damage to the Northern Bridge as a result of an attack; the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the information about strikes by Russian forces on the bridge. The mayor also added that energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions were damaged. Earlier, he spoke about subway infrastructure damaged in the attack.

Generators cannot replace centralized electricity supply

The day before, Klitschko stated that the city will not be able to supply itself with electricity using generators alone. According to him, it is wrong to consider generators a panacea: they will not replace the central electricity supply, since Kyiv needs 2 GW of electricity, and it is impossible to fully cover such demand with generators.
