Silver at the Grand Prix stage in China
Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova) won a silver medal at the Grand Prix stage of the International Skating Union (ISU) in China. Across her two programs she scored 221.27 points, landing a quadruple lutz in the free program. The winner was Japan's Mone Chiba (224.48), third place went to Lee Hae-in of South Korea (210.79), and fourth to Anastasia Gubanova of Georgia (208.58). This was reported by Gazeta.Ru, which also ran a live broadcast of the competition.
Reaction and the context of her return
Producer, general director and co-owner of the Angels Plushenko academy Yana Rudkovskaya praised the skater's performance highly. «She has one of the most powerful life stories. An enormous act of overcoming: becoming a mother and still landing a quadruple lutz,» — RIA Novosti quotes her as saying. In her view, the case of an athlete returning after four years and immediately performing ultra-C elements may remain unique in history. Earlier, admiration for Trusova was also expressed within the ISU itself.
Admission of Russians to ISU competitions
For Russian figure skaters, this Grand Prix stage became possible thanks to an ISU decision: on June 30 the union published a press release admitting Russian athletes to competitions under its auspices from the 2026/27 season — in a neutral status, in both individual and team events. The decision covers figure skating, short track and speed skating. Trusova's performance in China is practical confirmation that this admission has taken effect: Russian athletes are once again taking part in ISU calendar events.
