A clean practice session ahead of the competition in China

Russian figure skating champion Vladislav Dikidzhi completed his second practice session without errors at the third stage of the ISU Grand Prix series, which is being held in Shenzhen, China, from November 6 to 8. As reported by Life.ru, the 22-year-old athlete cleanly landed all the jump elements of his short program: a quadruple lutz–triple toe loop combination, a quadruple salchow, and a triple axel. The day before, during a free program practice, he performed quadruple lutzes, flips, and salchows, as well as a triple axel–triple salchow–double axel combination, after which he continued working on choreography.

What is known about the tournament and its participants

The men will present their short programs on Friday, November 6, at 15:25 Moscow time, with free skates scheduled for Sunday, November 8. Besides Dikidzhi, another Russian will compete in men's singles — two-time national champion Evgeny Semenenko; both are entered in the tournament under a neutral status. Judges will assess the performances only during the official skates: practice run-throughs do not affect the results.

Connection with the previous event of the season

The Chinese stage is Dikidzhi's next international competition of the season. In October, he won the Denis Ten Memorial in Kazakhstan, scoring 312.79 points across the two programs— back then, in the short program, he performed the same set of jumps that he has now cleanly shown in practice in Shenzhen. Gleb Lutfullin took second place at that tournament, and Petr Gumennik third. After the victory, the athlete, according to Life.ru, noted that he was especially pleased with two clean skates and the results of the work done. The identical jump content of the short program at the two events suggests that Dikidzhi is entering the Chinese stage with an already well-tested set of elements, although only the official skates will confirm his consistency.
