Attack on a high school near Paris

On the morning of November 6, an incident occurred at the Frédéric Mistral high school in the town of Fresnes near Paris: at around 10:00 local time, the fire alarm went off in the building for the first time, and half an hour later several outsiders entered and set off fireworks. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, which Life.ru cites, no one was hurt by the pyrotechnic explosion. The perpetrators did not stop there and began setting fire to toilet paper and trash bins inside the school. Only the arriving police officers were able to stop them and extinguish the fire.

Evacuation and consequences for studies

While law enforcement dealt with the situation, the administration organized an evacuation: students were first gathered in the inner courtyard and then led out of the building. Due to the incident, classes were moved to a remote format at least until noon on Saturday, November 7. No suspects have been detained yet — their identities and motives are being established.

A series of attacks on educational institutions

This is not the first such case in recent days. On November 5, a group of masked people set a fire at a high school near Toulouse: according to Life.ru, about 30 people stormed the Marie-Louise Dissard — Françoise high school in the commune of Tournefeuille, set a fire, damaged administrative premises, and fired pyrotechnics at the arriving rescuers. About 60 emergency service workers were involved in extinguishing the fire; several participants of the attack were detained. Thus, the incident in Fresnes differs in that the attackers, according to available information, remain at large, whereas in the Toulouse case some of the attackers were detained.
