A closed-door meeting in the Oval Office

US President Donald Trump held a separate closed-door meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It took place after representatives of Russia and Ukraine met with First Lady Melania Trump. Kun.uz reports this. Trump clarified that he met only with the Russian representative and did not meet with the Ukrainian representatives.

“There will be an agreement, and it will be big”

Answering journalists' questions in the Oval Office, Trump refused to reveal the subject of the discussion: “I can't tell you exactly what we talked about. But I will say one thing: there will be an agreement, and it will be big. It will be very large. It concerns not only Ukraine — I can even say that it may concern all of Europe as a whole. It will be a big, beautiful deal, and everyone will be pleased.” He also added that, in his view, the US is “very close” to resolving the Russia and Ukraine issue.

Context of the wording

Trump had previously used a similar phrase — “big beautiful bill” — to refer to the law he signed in July 2025, which became the flagship initiative of his second term in the White House. That law, in particular, provided for federal tax cuts to combat illegal migrants, as well as increased spending on defense and border security. The publication does not report on the content of a possible agreement on Ukraine, its participants, or its timeline.
