Most Muscovites do not venture beyond their usual routes
Only 11% of Moscow residents say they have managed to visit all districts of the capital, according to a survey by the Tripster tour booking service, in which 1,100 people took part. The study's results were obtained by Life.ru. At the same time, nearly half of Muscovites discovered at least one unfamiliar district over the past year, while 19% admitted that they know best only their own district and the city center.
What residents are interested in and how much they are willing to spend
Interest in the city remains high: 55% of respondents would like to learn more about architecture and the distinctive features of different places, 42% prefer exploring the history of familiar streets, one in four is interested in locations from films, books and music, and 47% would like to see the city on an evening or night tour. The most common trigger for new experiences is friends and acquaintances: 64% of respondents each try unfamiliar activities at the invitation of loved ones or on their recommendations, while only 12% wait for a special occasion such as a holiday.
Spending on leisure
Muscovites allocate a noticeable share of their budget to city leisure: one in four spends between five and ten thousand rubles a month on cafes, cinema, tours and events, while 22% spend even more. In the event of an unexpected cash windfall, such as a bonus, 53% are ready to spend at least part of the money on experiences or a short trip. Over the past year, 35% of respondents tried a new activity, and 34% feel rested by Sunday evening — among participants from other regions, only 20% gave this answer.
Where to go in the city
Earlier, Life.ru compiled a selection of places to relax with children during the autumn school holidays in Moscow: the Moscow Planetarium, the Darwin Museum, Robostation and the Cosmonautics and Aviation Centre at VDNKh. The outlet also advised combining several nearby venues into a single route so as not to spend the whole day off traveling across the city; the selection included both paid entertainment and free exhibitions, in particular the VDNKh Museum.
