The key facts

  • A Mi-28NM struck UAV operators of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a Dany-T munition in the Zapad group's area of responsibility
  • The Ministry of Defense reported the target was hit based on intelligence data
  • The Dany-T operates on a fire-and-forget principle and was first shown at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026

Footage of the combat use of the Dany-T

Russia's Ministry of Defense has released footage of a combat sortie by a Mi-28NM helicopter whose crew struck positions of UAV operators of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a Dany-T loitering munition in the area of responsibility of the Russian Zapad (West) group of forces. This was reported by Gazeta.Ru citing RIA Novosti.

The course of the sortie and its result

According to the ministry, before the sortie the crew received the coordinates of the enemy's location, which was then struck. According to intelligence data, the target was hit. After completing its combat mission, the Mi-28NM returned to its home airfield. The publication contains no independent confirmation of this information — it is reported based on statements from the Ministry of Defense.

What is known about the munition itself

The Dany-T is a jet-powered loitering munition that was first shown at the international aviation and space salon El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt in October 2026. It combines the features of a small cruise missile and an attack UAV, is equipped with a compact jet engine, reaches a high cruising speed, and can hit targets at a range of several hundred kilometers. The munition operates on a fire-and-forget principle: after separating from an aircraft or helicopter, it flies to the target fully autonomously.

Context

The release of footage of the munition's combat use follows October reports about the munition itself: first about its first public display at the Egyptian air show, then about its specifications. Thus, if at the air show the Dany-T was presented as an exhibit, the ministry has now shown its launch from a helicopter in real conditions for the first time. Earlier, the Sever (North) group of forces also reported the use of waiter drones to strike enemy warehouses.
