Meeting at the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin met on November 5 with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, the Kremlin press service (Life.ru) reported. The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation and international or regional issues, with an emphasis on the situation in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East as a whole.

Message from the supreme leader

The Kremlin also confirmed that Rezaei handed Putin a message from Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The contents of the message were not disclosed in the publication.

The partnership treaty as a framework for relations

The meeting took place within the framework of cooperation under the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on October 2, 2025. The document is designed for 20 years with automatic extension and provides for expanded cooperation, including in the economy, energy and military spheres. Thus, the discussion of prospects for cooperation was based on a treaty already in force, not a planned one.
