Statement after consultations in Brussels
US presidential envoy Jared Kushner said that Washington intends to bring Russia into negotiations on a new security architecture in Europe as part of resolving the Ukrainian conflict. The statement was made following consultations in Brussels and published on his account on the social network X, as reported by Life.ru.
The circle of negotiation participants
According to Kushner, the US will continue consultations with Ukraine, NATO, the European Union, and European partners, and the scope of discussions will be expanded to take into account all necessary aspects and proposals. «We will also bring Russia into the framework of peace negotiations,» he wrote. Earlier, the envoy described the US goal as creating a comprehensive security architecture that would permanently eliminate the risk of the conflict resuming.
Moscow's position
Kushner's statement aligns with the position previously expressed by the Russian side: Vladimir Putin supported the proposal to discuss the security of Russia and Ukraine in a pan-European context. The president agreed that discussions of future guarantees for the two countries should also touch on the European security architecture. Thus, both sides declare the need for a pan-European format, but no specific timing, participants, or agenda for such negotiations has yet been reported in the publications.
