Verdict in the case of the death of a 19-year-old woman

In Singapore, a court has sentenced 34-year-old Huang Boqian, who, together with acquaintances, tortured his own 19-year-old sister. The man was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. This was reported by The Straits Times, whose materials are cited by Gazeta.Ru.

What happened inside the network company's 'cell'

According to the publication, Huang Boqian and his sister Huang Baoyin were members of a well-known network marketing company, and the man's cohabitant, a woman surnamed Chi, was their mentor. When their parents stopped paying $2,000 for the company's products, the brother and sister left home and moved in with Chi. In her cell, she introduced corporal punishment for behavior that, in her words, negatively affected sales.

Months of abuse

Baoyin suffered the most, as she often failed to meet her sales targets. She was chained to a handrail next to the toilet, beaten, thrown out of the house, and locked in the bathroom. Knowing that his sister treasured her long hair, Boqian cut it short. In addition, the company devised an 'ordeal' for her involving food restrictions: at first Baoyin ate once a day, then once every few days. The victim did not survive this abuse. 'At the time of the forensic examination, she weighed only 27.6 kg, having lost 43% of her body weight over 11 months,' the publication states. After the events became known, all participants in the abuse were detained.

Context and what remains unknown

Gazeta.Ru also mentions an earlier case in Singapore: a married couple tortured their own son, who was found with his hands tied in the bathroom. The fate of the other participants in the abuse — the mentor Chi and other acquaintances of the defendant — is not reported in available publications; it is only known that all of them were detained.
