The Kremlin awaits a report
Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, has not yet returned from the United States and has not had time to brief Vladimir Putin on the results of his meeting with US leader Donald Trump. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said this at a briefing: 'No, he has not returned yet. Therefore, we do not yet have information about the details.' The report was published by Gazeta.Ru; a similar explanation was also given by Life.ru.
What is known about the meeting itself
The day before, Trump personally confirmed the talks with Dmitriev but refused to disclose the content of the conversation. At the same time, he announced a major agreement on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, which, according to him, could affect not only Ukraine but all of Europe. The American president did not meet with representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, however.
Statements about broader arrangements
On November 5, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who is taking part in the talks, also said that work is underway on arrangements that go beyond a ceasefire. According to him, Washington is focused on building a broader security architecture that should prevent the resumption of hostilities after they end, and, on Trump's instructions, it is engaging with all parties to the conflict in search of a long-term settlement.
The humanitarian line of the visit
Dmitriev's trip to Washington, as Life.ru notes, was also connected with humanitarian talks: earlier, a meeting organized by Melania Trump was held at the White House between representatives of Russia and Ukrainedevoted to the results of the temporary ceasefire in Alyoshky, Kherson region. The Russian side was represented by Dmitriev and human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova; the Ukrainian side by the head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia and ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. It was also reported that Melania Trump conveyed a personal message to Putin via Dmitriev.
