The key facts
- Djuraev won his fourth world title in the up to 110 kg category
- Records: 198 kg in the snatch and 432 kg in the total — both previously held by him
- The tournament awards the first major qualification points for the 2028 Games
Gold and two records in Ningbo
At the World Weightlifting Championships among adults, held from October 27 to November 8 in Ningbo, China, Uzbekistan's Akbar Djuraev won gold in the up to 110 kg weight category. According to UzNews.uz, in the snatch he lifted 198 kg and improved his own world record — his previous result of 197 kg was set in September at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The outlet Kun.uz notesthat this title became the athlete's fourth world championship.
The total is also a record
In the clean and jerk, Djuraev posted 234 kg, and his total of 432 kg also became a new world record in this category. The previous mark (428 kg) also belonged to him and was set in October 2025 at the World Championships in Førde, Norway. Thus, both world records in the up to 110 kg category — in the snatch and in the total — remain with Djuraev, and he improved both at this tournament.
Points toward Los Angeles
The Ningbo tournament also has practical significance: it awards the first major ranking points for qualification for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. According to the Olympic Committee, cited by Kun.uz, the two world records earn Djuraev additional bonus points. In addition to his four world championship titles, his achievements include victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics, two Asian championship titles, and a win at the Asian Games.
