Fuel tanker overturns in Bavly District
A major traffic accident involving a heavy truck, which caused a petroleum product spill, has occurred in the Bavly District of the Republic of Tatarstan. According to preliminary information, a tractor unit with a tank trailer carrying about 20 tons of fuel oil to Orenburg lost control, went off into a roadside ditch and overturned. The strong impact deformed the tank's hatch cover, and about three tons of fuel spilled out. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash Iptash.
Context: recent fuel tanker incidents
This is not the first such incident in recent months: earlier, on a federal highway in Kuzbass, a burning fuel tanker with diesel fuel nearly exploded — the tractor unit was burned to the ground, but emergency ministry (MChS) personnel managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the tank; no one was injured. In addition, in October a hydrochloric acid spill was reported on the premises of an enterprise in the Novosibirsk region. Unlike the Kuzbass case, the Tatarstan incident so far involves a spill rather than a fire; the publication provides no information about casualties or the progress of the response efforts.
