Landing and evacuation in Bucharest
The crew of a Wizz Air passenger plane flying from Milan to Bucharest reported to air traffic controllers about a possible explosive device on board. The airliner landed at Henri Coandă International Airport on November 5 at around 11:09 local time (12:09 MSK), the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) reported. After landing, everyone on board — 182 passengers and seven crew members — was taken off the plane and placed in the terminal, where, according to the authorities, they are safe. A crisis headquarters has been set up at the airport.
Inspection of the aircraft and airport operations
Specialists from the Romanian state security service have begun inspecting the aircraft: pyrotechnicians are checking the airliner to determine whether an explosive device is on board. Meanwhile, as Life.ru notes, citing information about the situation, the airport continues to operate normally, with no flight schedule disruptions.
A series of similar incidents in Europe
This is not the only such report in recent days. According to Life.ru, on the morning of November 5, a passenger Airbus A320 operated by Aer Lingus, flying from Dublin to Rome, also received a warning about a possible bomb: the plane changed its route and landed at the Évreux-Fauville French military airbase, where emergency services met it. A few days earlier, another Wizz Air airliner heading from London to Sofia made an emergency landing in Budapest after a bomb threat was reported. The publications do not currently report the results of the aircraft inspection in Bucharest or whether the threats in these cases were confirmed.
