The key facts

  • Jim Morris is stepping down as Pixar president after 12 years but will continue working as an executive producer
  • The new president will be Jonathan Garson, who has worked at Disney for more than 30 years
  • Incredibles 3 will be released in June 2028

Pixar leadership change

Pixar Animation Studios will be headed by Jonathan Garson, succeeding Jim Morris, who has served as president for 12 years. The reshuffle is reported by Variety, which is how Gazeta.Ru learned of it.

What is known about Morris and Garson

Morris explained his departure as a move to working on special projects: 'After 52 years in the industry, almost 40 of which I spent at Lucasfilm and Pixar, I am stepping away from day-to-day management, but I will begin working on a number of special projects.' As executive producer, he will continue to take part in the studio's major projects, including Incredibles 3, whose premiere is scheduled for June 2028. Thus, he will remain involved in content creation but will be freed from operational duties.

Division of roles in the new leadership

Garson has worked at Disney for more than 30 years and at Pixar since 2010. As president, he will work with chief creative officer Pete Docter and will be responsible for overseeing all of the studio's production and operational processes. The division of roles means that creative and operational leadership will remain split between the two executives.
