A pickup in the spirit of the 1980s classics
Jeep unveiled a special version of the Wrangler Scrambler SRT pickup at the SEMA-2026 show in Las Vegas. Although the vehicle is built on the modern Wrangler platform, its creators drew inspiration from the classic Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler, produced from 1981 to 1986, Kun.uz reports.
Body and interior
The body is painted a special brown color and has been substantially reworked: it features longer doors, an unusual rear with a bed, and a cargo area with a protective coating. A reinforced roll cage and distinctive fender flares have been installed, while the roof and doors are removable. The front end is styled after the Easter Jeep Safari special editions — with round headlights in square bezels. The interior offers seats with pronounced lateral support, dark graphite leather upholstery, contrast stitching, dark yellow decorative accents, and SRT logos. The rear seats can be folded 180 degrees to accommodate gear or removed entirely.
The main technical novelty
The vehicle's key technical feature is the abandonment of the front solid axle in favor of an independent suspension. According to the publication, this design was developed with the participation of American racing driver Casey Currie. For the Wrangler, historically known for its body-on-frame construction and solid axles, such a move on a show car looks like a notable experiment, although sources do not report any plans for series production of the showcased version.
