Dispute over a wedding in the Vatican
A wedding in the Vatican has become the subject of controversy on social media after footage of the ceremony appeared: users disliked the outfits of the bride and her bridesmaids, which many considered too revealing for a Catholic church, and were surprised that the women were allowed into the ceremony at all. This is reported by Gazeta.Ru citing the outlet Parenting Patch.
The bride's response
The bride, named Emma, stated that all the outfits had been approved with the church in advance: according to her, if the dresses had violated the rules, they simply would not have been allowed to be worn at the ceremony. She added that she has attended the Catholic church since childhood and knows its rules well.
What exactly raised questions
The bridesmaids were discussed the most: a designer from Vancouver hand-sewed long silk dresses with capes resembling short tops for them. Emma explained that the capes covered the stomach, and just in case, the women wore nude tank tops under the dresses. The bride herself faced questions over her bare shoulders and deep neckline. She said the dress originally sat higher but slipped down while she was getting ready, and that during the ceremony her shoulders were covered by a veil which, according to her, was much thicker than it appears on camera. She also noted that she kept stepping on her train.
The bride's earlier story
This is not the first report about this couple: earlier, Gazeta.Ru reported that the bride walked 18 kilometers in her wedding dressto reach the groom's home. Thus, the ceremony in the Vatican became a continuation of an already covered story, and the dispute over the outfits remains a verbal spat on social media: no confirmation from Vatican church structures is provided in the publications.
