The key facts

  • A family of three went missing in September last year during a hike to Mount Malvinka in the Krasnoyarsk Territory
  • Investigators call an accident the most likely version, but do not rule out a crime
  • Only Irina Usoltseva's driver's license was found in the family's car

Investigators are considering several versions

The investigation does not rule out that the Usoltsev spouses, who went missing in the Krasnoyarsk taiga, may have quarreled during their hike, although the likelihood of such a scenario is considered low. This was told to RIA Novosti by the head of the 1st Department for the Investigation of Especially Important Cases of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia Yana Syrymbetova. According to her, motives for a crime can vary, so personal enmity or causing death by negligence may be considered as possible versions. At the same time, the investigator named an accident as the most likely version of the family's disappearance, but stressed that a crime cannot be ruled out either.

What is known about the disappearance and the search

The family of three went missing in September last year during a hike to Mount Malvinka in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. On November 4 it was reportedthat only Irina Usoltseva's driver's license was found in the family's car discovered in the region. Earlier, rescuer Railko assessed the chances of finding the missing family. Thus, over the past year the search has also shifted into the investigative sphere: in addition to search operations, the investigation is building versions of what happened, without settling on any single one.
