New details of the tragedy on the Kazyr
A hunter from Krasnoyarsk, who spent days in the taiga with the body of his companion mangled by a bear, shot and killed the predator. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory; Gazeta.Ru provides the details.
How the events unfolded
According to the surviving man, it all began when his companion, together with a dog living in the taiga, went to check on a hunting cabin where the hunters were planning to move. Two or three hours later, only the dog returned — at that point the man sensed something was wrong and went to look for his friend. On the way, he encountered the bear and shot the animal, and nearby he discovered the buried remains of his companion, after which he reported what had happened.
Rescue operation
The accident occurred on October 28 in the upper reaches of the Kazyr River in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Two men went hunting, and one of them was mangled by a bear. The survivor took shelter in a forest cabin and was later found by two friends: they first traveled along the Kazyr on an airboat, then walked 15 kilometers on foot through the snow, but upon reaching their friend, they themselves became stranded in the taiga. According to investigators, the surviving man is doing fine. A video of the hunter's rescue was published earlier.
